Floating Ruins
For a class project I worked in a group to create an environment concept art. The bases of the game concept was an exploration adventure game that follows the main cast as they soar through a world of floating islands. we decided the environment design for this project would be of the floating ruins, the end goal of the players to find an abandoned city.
For the look we went with something steampunk-esque. With a large main island with many smaller islands attached by chains.
My first pass of this concept was lack luster. It had all of the parts that I wanted to be shown but none of the drama. The floating ruins are supposed to be the final destination of the player.
They should be large and imposing. So with my second pass I worked through these problems. Created a more dramatic perspective, added more depth to the buildings and other islands, and added the story element of having the blimp there exploring the city.
